I'm Casey and I am a student of Emerge - I am 39 yrs old and I've been dieting and struggling my whole adult life....until now...

Low-carb diets, low-sugar diets, meal plans, calorie counting, thousands spent on personal trainers, every diet pill and powder including prescription ones and even a quick bout with bulimia in my 20's were all tools in my 'stay skinny at all costs' repertoire. 


In 2016, during the few months leading up to my wedding, I had a fitness trainer tell me that if I really wanted to get to my 'goal weight' that I should try not eating for a 24hr period a few times a week. So, that's exactly what I did. Along with obsessively working out I would only eat 4 to 5 days of the week until I'd lost 20 pounds, getting down to the lowest weight of my adult life for my wedding. 


Obviously, my lifestyle wasn't sustainable. Not only did I gain all the weight back and more, I had completely burnt myself out.

I just didn't have the willpower to diet anymore and the only two choices that I had ever known were to diet or binge.

I was either 'good' or 'bad' and didn't have any other tools to help me maintain my health when the 'all or nothing' mindset finally stopped working for me.  
Eating became a source of comfort and also an emotional escape.


Hearing Barbara talk about the idea that you could live at peace with food AND have the body you wanted was like having a blindfold taken off and seeing a whole new beautiful world for the very first time. I think I might have even cried at one point because I was so happy to have found someone who could help me, but that wasn't offering yet another fad diet. 


Now look, you can't undo 25 years of 'diet mindset' conditioning in just a few weeks. It took me some time and what Barbara was offering sounded too good to be true but deep down I also knew it was the only way for me.
